San Francisco’s historic Palace Hotel recently emerged from a nine-month renovation that included an overhaul of its guest rooms, pool, fitness center, lobby, and Garden Court. The Luxury Collection tapped California-based interior designer Beatrice Girelli of firm Indidesign to update the 1875 hotel in the city’s Financial District.

Before the overhaul, the Garden Court was decorated with palms.

A portion of the Garden Court now serves as a lounge, where guests can relax and enjoy a drink in a space that's a bit more informal than the adjacent dining area.

The 553 guest rooms were given a soft, serene palette. Leather headboards, dark wood accents, metallic surfaces, and marble baths lend a contemporary feel.

In a refurbished suite, a new wall color and painted moldings make the space feel more residential. Clean-lined furnishings in a tranquil palette of cream and dove-gray are the perfect backdrop for pops of orange, a patterned rug, and shimmering draperies. From $375/night; sfpalace.com
